This fried chicken joint is the brainchild of beloved local chef Ashley Christensen who founded Beasley’s as an ode to her upbringing—literally, the restaurant’s namesake comes from AC's grandmother who skillet-fried chickens, and her beekeeper father who liked to drizzle honey over the perfectly fried birds.

While famous for its crowd-pleasing chicken, Beasley’s also has an array of modern Southern sides (think: cider-braised collard greens, fluffy buttermilk biscuits, and pimento mac-n-cheese) and casual vibes perfect for bringing people together. The concept of community truly is at the center of this biz, from the wall-to-wall chalkboard menu that hangs over the bar to the warm Southern hospitality extended by the staff. Stop in, and you’ll be adding “y’all” to your lingo before you know it.

• The Hot Chicken Sandwich is extremely spicy, so ask for the chili oil on the side if you’re worried about the spice level. (We had to ask our waiter to bring us a couple glasses of milk cuz our mouths were on fiyahhh.)
• Secret menu item: The Gold Rush is a bourbon-based drink that’s been off the menu for years, but the regulars know to order it as a go-to libation.
